First Time Watching MORTAL KOMBAT II (2026) Now THIS Is Mortal Kombat! | Movie Reaction

GET OVER HERE. In this first time watching movie reaction, Movie Watcher Mike dives into Mortal Kombat II, the sequel to the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot — and this time, the tournament finally feels like the brutal, ridiculous, action-packed Mortal Kombat movie fans have been waiting for. I’m a big fan of the original 1990s Mortal Kombat movie. It had the music, the characters, the attitude, and that perfect arcade-era energy that made it unforgettable. I watched the 2021 reboot and thought it was alright — not terrible, not amazing, but enough to keep me interested in where the franchise could go next. 🎬Want Full UNCUT Movie Watch Along Reactions to Indian Cinema? This sequel feels much closer to what a live-action Mortal Kombat movie should be: insane fights, brutal fatalities, fan-favorite characters, wild mythology, and just enough story to get us from one bone-crunching battle to the next. It knows what it is. It knows what fans came to see. And most importantly, it finally embraces the chaos. Directed by Simon McQuoid and written by Jeremy Slater, Mortal Kombat II brings Earthrealm’s champions into the ultimate no-holds-barred battle against Shao Kahn, whose dark rule threatens Earthrealm and its defenders. This time, the fighters are joined by Johnny Cage, played by Karl Urban, who instantly becomes one of the biggest highlights of the movie. The film stars Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Damon Herriman as Quan Chi, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, and Max Huang as Kung Lao. Is Mortal Kombat II a perfect movie? No. But does it deliver exactly what a Mortal Kombat movie should deliver? Absolutely. This is the kind of video game movie that understands the assignment: brutal action, insane characters, over-the-top violence, and pure fan-service fun. It may not be a flawless victory… but for Mortal Kombat fans, this is a fatality in the best way.
