We have thousands of followers, hundreds of mutuals, and friends we exchange memes with every day. But when life gets difficult, how many of those people can we actually call?
Somewhere along the way, we've started confusing constant communication with genuine connection. Snapchat streaks, Instagram reels, parties and online interactions can make us feel close to people we barely have meaningful conversations with.
In this video, I talk about the loneliness hiding behind social media friendships, why we've started prioritising vibes and convenience over loyalty, and what it really takes to build friendships that can survive the difficult seasons of life.
Real friendship requires more than being around when everything is fun. It requires showing up, asking difficult questions, making the call, and choosing inconvenience when it would be easier to do nothing.
Maybe it's time we became the annoying friend who actually calls.
What does real friendship mean to you? And when was the last time you called a friend just to find out how they were really doing?
