In Scripture, "spirit" and "soul" are often interchangeable, and salvation is presented as a complete, one-time act for the whole person, not a phased process. Yu’s teachings inherit the trichotomous tradition of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, though presented more subtly, yet they risk fragmenting self-understanding, fostering spiritual anxiety, and promoting experientialism. Historically, trichotomy, influenced by Greek philosophy, conflicts with orthodox theologians like Calvin and Luther.
