First Day in Vail, & 4th Day in Colorado

Early October was a great time for me, a non-skier, to visit the beautiful village of Vail, Colorado. The only down side is that the ski lifts were not operating and a few clothing stores and restaurants were closed for a few weeks, though most were open when I was there. Still plenty to do and choices of places to go! The fall foliage is spectacular! Brilliant yellows dominate, followed by oranges and some reds, punctuated by tall, dark green conifer trees. One garage in Vail Village is open and free of charge during the off season. Check on-line for details. You really feel as if you are on a European alpine trip here, think Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, especially.
