Keeping William occupied (Nonverbal Autism, 12 year old)

July 5, 2024 - Just settling in after the long road trip. I thought whether or not I should publish this because he got a bit weird with his nipple. But then i thought about it and this is just what life is like sometimes. He does odd things, and we have to get used to it or redirect it sometimes. I think its important that other families see they aren't the only ones who deal with these things. This was the beginning of a trend, right when he first started noticing them. William has become rather preoccupied with his nipples, we have had some talks lately about where it is okay to mess with your nipples, and other peoples comfort. I tend to redirect anything private or sexual to in his bed or bathtub time. And we just do lots of reminders and prompting until he gets it. оО〇・-・〇Оо・-・оО〇・-・〇Оо・-・оО〇・-・〇Оо William is my youngest. He was diagnosed with severe autism when he was 2.5 years old. He regressed around 1.5 years old and lost all of his words and many of his developmental skills. He is completely non verbal. Currently, he is working hard to learn to communicate with an electronic speech device.
