Are You Following Jesus—or the Jesus You Created?

Are you following Jesus Christ—or the version of Jesus you've created for yourself? In John's Gospel, Jesus asks a deceptively simple question: “Who are you looking for?” He asks it of those who begin following Him in John 1. And He asks it again in John 18, when a group arrives to arrest Him. Same question. Two very different intentions. In this reflection, Guy Roberts explores the difference between genuinely searching for Christ and searching for a Jesus who confirms what we already believe. What happens when truth challenges our expectations? When faith requires transformation rather than comfort? And when following Jesus becomes more difficult than we imagined? Perhaps the most important question isn't whether we're looking for Jesus. It's whether we're willing to find Him as He truly is.
