Paul Phiri predicted his death due to a suspision of an old lady who looked at him with a wicked eye while he was coming from collecting his royalties and managed to buy a tv set.He didnt live long after that as he has said the incident of the old lady looking at him. He became prominent from early 90s with his band the Black Saints based in Mutare with hits like Yera Yera,Gare Gare,Oh Ishe and many more. Paul Phiri is the pioneer of Gospel Reggae music in Zimbabwe,he fused Roman Catholic hymns and others with Reggae music.
