It’s that time of year when Mayflies start to appear on our waters. This pattern most closely represents the biggest and best known of the British up-winged flies Ephemera Danica or the Green Drake. With a hollow silicone detached body and CDC wing and hackle, this pattern makes an excellent dry fly that floats extremely well.
In Britain and Ireland the main hatch usually begins somewhere between mid May and the first week of June, but there are regional variations. The hatch generally begins early in the afternoon and continues for several hours.
