I Thought PJ Harvey Was a GUY... Then THIS Happened! | “This Is Love” First Reaction

I just finished reacting to PJ Harvey – “This Is Love,” and this was a Super Thanks request from @Neale76. Neale, thank you so much for your continued support. I greatly appreciate it. First things first: I went into this thinking PJ Harvey was a guy. Well... I learned something today! PJ Harvey is very much Polly Jean Harvey, and she made that abundantly clear in this video. I was completely blown away. Right from the beginning, that guitar sound grabbed me. It was nasty—and I mean that in the best possible way. Heavily distorted, dark, dirty and aggressive, with a lot of that high end rolled off. It just sounded mean, and it fit this song perfectly. Then there was PJ Harvey herself. Her vocal delivery, her attitude, the movement, the whole performance—my mind immediately went to Iggy Pop. There's something raw and almost punk about the way she attacks this song. I'm not saying she sounds exactly like Iggy, but there was an energy and attitude there that kept reminding me of him throughout the entire video. And I loved it. When that second guitar comes in over the top, it adds just enough extra flavor without taking anything away from that nasty main guitar riff. Honestly, I don't know what else this song needed. It's heavy without trying to be metal, it's got a punk attitude without being straight-up punk, and it's catchy as hell. This is just a fantastic rock song. Sometimes that's really all there is to say. A song grabs you immediately, doesn't let go, and when it's finished you just want to hear it again. Huge thumbs-up from me. I'll definitely be listening to more PJ Harvey after this.
