Exploring Tasmania Pt 2 Trial Harbour Strahan Boat Cruise Montezuma & Lilydale Falls Cataract Gorge.

In This week's episode we Head to Strahan, Tasmania for a couple of nights. On the way we detour and check out Trial Harbour, a small self sufficient coastal town. We stay at The Wilderness Lodge in Strahan, a nice B&B in an old homestead. We spend the day on a World Heritage Cruise leaving from Strahan. The Boat is new and very comfortable and stable. The trip takes you out to the heads where you see 3 lighthouses, then we head to Sarah Island, Tasmania's oldest and most remote convict settlement for a guided tour that is included in the cruise fare. Lunch was provided on the boat and it was a very nice assortment of various foods that was a good size meal too. After lunch we head down the Gorden River and drop off for another guided tour discussing the amazing Huon Pine. We get back in about 3pm which means the cruise was approximately 6hrs in duration. From Strahan we head to the small town of Tullah where we spend 1 night at the local tavern, which is a bit shabby on the outside but the room was nice, comfy beds and friendly hosts. We also had dinner here, basic meal but very tasty. I do the 8km return walk to Montezuma Falls, The tallest falls in Tasmania, this is a long walk but it is a nice easy walk. We leave my parents house in Sulphur Creek and head to Launceston. We were going to stay at Lilydale Falls free camp ground, but it isn't suitable for a large van, we get to do the Lilydale Falls while there, so was still good we went there. We end up staying in Launceston at Old Mac's Farm Caravan Park, not free but cheap, $15 per night, per site. Grassy sites, level, water access and toilets. We spend half a day at Cataract Gorge Reserve in Launceston, a beautiful spot and well worth the visit with various walking tracks to suit different walking abilities.
