8 Pound 26" Trout on a Leonard 48DF bamboo fly rod

I was creeping along upstream along the edge of the creek and saw the tail of a nice trout sticking out at the bottom of the rock. The head was buried under the rock facing upstream and could not see me. I cast far upstream of the rock to give the Kelly Gallup Hare’s Ear Jig time to sink. The current must have carried it right in front of the trout’s face, or maybe I just got lucky. The is a testament for ten-year old Umpqua 3X fluorocarbon tippet. 4X would have been a lost fish.
