A trip to Goole AFC for an NCEL Division One clash against South Leeds FC, with plenty of attention on the home side following their recent takeover by an American investor from Wisconsin. 🇺🇸⚽ Before kick-off, I caught up with the new owner to hear about his ambition for Goole AFC and his plans for the future of the club. On the pitch, South Leeds started the better of the two sides and looked the more threatening early on. However, Goole made the most of some good fortune to race into a 2-0 lead, with two goals that certainly had an element of luck about them! Things got even more dramatic before half-time. A through ball sent Goole striker Ross Duggan into the box, but the South Leeds goalkeeper came rushing out and wiped him out. Duggan managed to get back to his feet and fired the ball wide, but the referee had already brought play back for the foul. Goole were awarded a free-kick and they made the most of it! The delivery took a deflection on its way through and found the back of the net just before the break. HALF-TIME: Goole AFC 3-0 South Leeds FC South Leeds needed a fast start to the second half and they got exactly that, pulling a goal back from a long throw almost immediately. Suddenly, there was a glimmer of hope for the visitors. But Goole soon regained control and completely took over the game, adding three more goals to put the result beyond doubt.
