A free Google Sheets template that works out a quote for a service job from its costs. You type labor hours, your labor cost per hour, materials, travel, an overhead allowance and the margin you want; it shows the estimated cost, a suggested quote and the estimated profit. The quote is cost ÷ (1 − margin), rounded up to the cent. Shown with a fictional cleaning job: 4 hours × $25 + $30 + $20 + $10 = $160 cost, a 20% margin gives a $200 quote and $40 profit; at 6 hours it's $210, $262.50 and $52.50. Make your own copy of the template: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/... Download (XLSX copy + setup guide, ZIP): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Pcmp... SHA-256 of the ZIP: 53fc8c37adfe43a5a6e723e50a4ce08c1e41378230f1fc55a7870b850f10afec What you'll see: The inputs, and how invalid entries are rejected How the quote is calculated, and why margin is not markup Changing the hours and getting a new quote Copying the template into your own Google Drive Margin vs markup: margin is profit ÷ price ($40 of a $200 quote = 20%). Markup is profit ÷ cost ($40 on $160 = 25%). Adding 20% to a $160 cost gives $192, only a 16.7% margin. Requirements: a Google account and Google Sheets in a web browser. No add-ons, scripts, extra sign-ins or connected accounts (you sign in to Google to make your copy). Costs: the template is free; Google Sheets comes with a free Google account. Limits: results are estimates based only on the costs you enter, before tax (sales tax, VAT, GST). One currency. Type hours as a number (4.5, not 4:30). It doesn't send quotes, collect payments or connect to any account; it's a calculator, not accounting or tax software. Tested in Google Sheets on the web; not tested in Excel or the Sheets mobile app. The business, job and amounts in this video are fictional.
