Shillington teacher Dan Wilson sits down with recent graduate Ed Rowbottom to chat about life after the course, from celebrating in Australia to landing on the radar of employers who found his portfolio online.
Ed opens up about the thing every new designer wrestles with: confidence. He shares how the Shillington community helped him back himself, why a portfolio that's been through real critique changes everything and how he's learned to turn imposter syndrome into fuel rather than letting it hold him back.
Dan and Ed also dig into two of Ed's standout projects. There's his rebrand of Snappy Snaps, built entirely around his own film photography and the line "remember the moment", plus Crew, a vegan leather brand designed as a bold counterpoint to a sea of lookalike competitors.
There's honest talk too about the stuff nobody tells you, like how to work out your day rate and why asking for half your fee upfront protects you as a designer.
Whether you're weighing up a career change or you're a new designer finding your feet, this one's full of real advice on building confidence, leaning on your community and putting yourself out there.
