Five hammerhead sharks came up out of the blue at Daedalus Reef and circled us for about half an hour. This is a week on a Red Sea liveaboard aboard the Blue Storm — five reefs, one very curious Napoleon wrasse, and an oceanic manta. We flew into Cairo, drove south from Hurghada to Port Ghalib, and spent the week working our way out to the offshore reefs and back. Dive sites in this film: Ras Torombi Big Brother Little Brother Daedalus Elphinstone The hammerheads are at Daedalus, on the south end. We jumped into open water with nothing underneath us, and they came up to us — five of them, close enough to watch an eye move. They are supposed to be shy. These ones were not. Also in here: a Napoleon wrasse that swam straight at the camera and had to be dodged, an oceanic manta, an oceanic whitetip cruising with its pilot fish, and dolphins on the bow on the crossing home.
