Day 210 Isaiah 49-53 Bible study: YAHOVAH’s Servant, Yeshua the Suffering Servant, light to the Gentiles, restoration of Israel, sacred name prophecy, Acts 8 Ethiopian eunuch reading. In this verse-by-verse reading and teaching, we cover Isaiah 49 through Isaiah 53, focusing on the Servant called from the womb, hidden as a polished shaft, given as a covenant to the people and a light to the Gentiles so that YAHOVAH’s salvation reaches the ends of the earth. Zion’s complaint that she is forgotten is answered by the promise that her walls are graven on the palms of His hands. Captives are told to go forth, mountains become highways, and kings and queens become nursing fathers and mothers who bow and acknowledge YAHOVAH. Isaiah 50 shows the obedient Servant whose ear is opened morning by morning, who gives His back to the smiters and His face to shame and spitting, yet sets His face like flint because YAHOVAH God helps Him. Those who fear YAHOVAH and obey the voice of His Servant are told to trust in the name of YAHOVAH rather than walk in the light of their own sparks. Isaiah 51–52 call the people to look to Abraham and Sarah, promise Zion comforted until her wilderness becomes like Eden, and declare that YAHOVAH’s salvation and righteousness stand forever. The redeemed return to Zion with singing. Jerusalem is told to awake, put on beautiful garments (obedience to His commandments), shake off the dust, and loose the bands from her neck. The people sold for nothing are redeemed without money, and they will know His name—YAHOVAH—in the day He speaks, “Behold, it is I.” How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good tidings, publishes peace, and publishes Yeshua, saying to Zion, “Thy God reigneth.” Watchmen see eye to eye when YAHOVAH brings again Zion. All the ends of the earth see the salvation of our God. Depart, touch no unclean thing, and bear the vessels of YAHOVAH. Isaiah 52:13–53 presents the exalted yet marred Servant. Many are astonished; kings shut their mouths at what they had not been told. Who has believed our report, and to whom is the arm of YAHOVAH revealed? He grows up as a tender plant and root out of dry ground, with no beauty that we should desire Him. Despised and rejected, a man of sorrows, He bears our griefs and carries our sorrows. Wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace is upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; YAHOVAH has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. As a lamb to the slaughter He opens not His mouth, is cut off from the land of the living, makes His grave with the wicked and the rich, yet does no violence. It pleases YAHOVAH to bruise Him and make His soul an offering for sin. He sees His seed, prolongs His days, and by His knowledge the righteous Servant justifies many. He pours out His soul unto death, is numbered with the transgressors, bears the sin of many, and makes intercession for them. This is the passage the Ethiopian eunuch was reading in Acts 8 when Philip joined him and explained Yeshua. The video also notes how rarely churches connect these chapters with Deuteronomy 18:15–19 and Acts 3:18–26. Tomorrow’s reading continues from Isaiah 53 into the chapters the eunuch and Philip discussed on the way to baptism.
