It is reported that Abd al-Aziz, the son of Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, may Allah have mercy on them both, saw his father in a dream after his death, as though he were in a garden. He asked him, “Which of your deeds did you find to be the best?” His father replied, “Seeking forgiveness, my son.” Reflect upon this. Imagine that your time in this world has come to an end. You have left behind your home, your wealth, your status and everything you spent years striving to acquire, and all that remains is what you sent ahead for your hereafter. At that moment, no one will wish they had earned more money or received more recognition from people.
