For more than four decades, Sal Manzano has been laying down paint, patterns, candy, and flake that helped define the look of Lowrider culture. On this episode of the Wired Down Show, Joe Ray sits down with the legendary San Diego custom painter to talk about his journey from the early days of learning the craft alongside his brother Jose, his influences, and the techniques that made his work instantly recognizable. Sal takes us back to 1980, when custom paint was done by hand, knowledge was passed from one artist to another, and Lowrider paint became much more than a finish—it became an art form and an expression of Chicano culture. From intricate patterns and heavy metal flake to candy colors, fades, and custom panels, Sal Manzano has spent more than 40 years perfecting his craft. Just as important, he continues passing that knowledge on to the next generation through his Lowrider Patternz classes and custom-paint instruction. This episode is about more than paint. It’s about history, craftsmanship, culture, and keeping the art of Lowriding alive for the next generation. 🎙️ Hosted by Joe Ray 🎬 Wired Down Show Subscribe and turn on notifications for more conversations with the builders, painters, car clubs, craftsmen, and legends who helped create Lowrider history. #SalManzano #Lowrider #LowriderCulture #CustomPaint #LowriderArt #WiredDownShow #JoeRay   / wireddownpodcast
