Here are a list of tools used in this video and a Quick Reference version of the tips provided if you want to try this for yourself and paint your nails without any vision required,
Tools:
Cotton Rounds
Pure Acetone Nail-polish remover
A stiff bristled fine straight-edged brush (mine is a repurposed eyeliner brush)
Nail-polish - Base Coat, Top Coat, and Coloured Polish if desired
A Towel - just in case of spills
Nail file (if necessary)
Nail Oil (if necessary)
Prep your nails in whichever way you prefer, cutting filing, removing old polish, etc. (The following steps work for any nail polish application - base-coat, polish, topcoat, sparkles, etc.)
Tie up long hair (if required)
Put nail polish in the fridge for 15-30 minutes before starting to paint your nails - this makes it easer to feel exactly where it is hitting the nail
Aim to put nail-polish brush halfway down the nail in the centre and push the brush back towards the cuticle stopping when you feel it then advancing back towards the tip of the nail
Repeat step 3 on each side of centre for the nail
Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each nail on your hand.
Do a rough clean-up with acetone nail varnish remover and Q-tips
Do a fine clean-up along the edges with the brush
If you find it difficult to judge where you finger or nail are, using the same hand that is holding the brush, use your fifth or fourth finger to reach out and touch the tip of the finger you are painting to help guide yo towards the nail
move your hands into whatever position is most comfortable or convenient for you - brace against your other fingers, lay them on a surface, whatever feels best to have control of your hands location
Don’t be afraid to make a mess - cleanup will fix any mistakes you make along the way!
Practice makes perfect.
Nudes, pinks, and other natural colours are very forgiving if you make mistakes
Don’t know what colours look good together? Watch other nail gurus like I did @simplynailogical and see what they do, and take inspiration from that.
