Peter Tiehuis (gtr) Next Week - Metropole Orkest dir. Jorg Achim Keller - 2006

Next Week - Metropole Orkest directed by Jorg Achim Keller, featuring the orchestra's own guitar player Peter Tiehuis, recorded live at the Oosterpoort (Groningen, NL) in 2006. Peter Tiehuis is one of The Netherlands' leading guitar players of the 21st century and according to famous jazz guitarist John Scofield Peter is "the world's best kept guitar secret". He was the Metropole Orkest's guitarist from 1996 until his retirement in 2024, but is still active as a frequent sub with the orchestra. After starting at a young age on the classical guitar, and later while playing in various rock- and soul-bands, he finished a classical study at the Twents Conservatory in Enschede and a jazz study at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Peter gained his first professional experience with reputable bigbands like The Skymasters and the international Peter Herbolzheimer band. Over the years he played with national stars in the Netherlands like Trijntje Oosterhuis, Lee Towers, Ilse DeLange, Rob de Nijs, Humphrey Campbell and many more. The list of international greats is also impressive, comprising names like Toots Thielemans, Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard, Stan Getz, Tania Maria, Al Jarreau, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, Charlie Mariano, Vince Mendoza, Mike Stern, The Yellow Jackets, Elvis Costello, Gino Vannelli, The Brecker Brothers, Pat Metheny, Randy Crawford, George Duke, John Scofield, Herbie Hancock, Steve Vai, Ivan Linz, Laura Mvula, Lizz Wright, Gregory Porter, and many others. Lately he’s been performing with his own quintet T5 and as sideman in (former) Metropole colleague saxophonist Leo Janssen's quintet.
