9/14/26 (pubescent portamento) Zerosum Inertia ZI61 + Metasonix TX-1 + MFB OSC-2 & dual LFO & ADSR + CXM 1978 + MIDIVERB II
Zerosum Inertia has produced some true masterpieces, like the 6550-99 VCO and The Scorpion Tail audio processor in 5U, but the ZI61 is by far my favorite of ZI’s eurorack modules. It’s based on the Metasonix R-51 VCA, but it goes so much farther than a VCA. It is not a clone, but its own module. That said, layering two or more tube modules always sounds better than one. In this video, the ZI61 processes a triangle wave, and that is sent to a clone of the Metasonix TX-1, which “strangles” the signal. Then the drive eventually spews tracking artifacts all over the tracking artifacts the ZI61 is spewing. Anyways, it’s a pretty simple patch. The Ladik S-143 is sequencing the MFB OSC-2 triangle wave, which runs through the Zerosum Inertia ZI61 into the Metasonix TX-1 clone, with gated reverb from the Alesis MIDIVERB II and reverb blended on the CXM 1978. The S-143 is being driven by ALM Pamela’s New Workout, as is the MFB dual ADSR, which is modulating the ZI61 VCA CV input. An LFO from the MFB dual LFO is modulating the AUX CV input on the TX-1 Agonizer clone. A copy of the S-143 sequence is also modulating the ZI61 Distort CV input.
