My Friends Are WAY Faster Than Me... For Now | First Time At Ride Rock Creek

Last year, a crash at Windrock left me with a broken collarbone. Now I’m at Ride Rock Creek in North Carolina for my first-ever visit and my first major mountain bike park day since the crash. Nothing like riding with two buddies who are WAY better than you to ease back into things. 😂 Kris, Mike, and I made the very necessary Buc-ee’s stop on the way, then headed to Rock Creek for a day of mountain biking, repeat laps, and trying to keep my faster friends somewhere in sight. We rode Easy A, Bark Buster, Sling Shot, High Noon, Tumbleweed, and a few others. About halfway through the day, the rain showed up and made the roots and berms pretty slick. Once things dried out enough, though… HERO DIRT. 🤘 The bike felt more dialed than ever. Since the crash, I’ve made a handful of upgrades, including switching from an air shock to a coil shock, new handlebars, a new chainring and chain, a rebuilt dropper post, and a few smaller changes. Getting back to a big bike park day with everything feeling that good was pretty awesome. And somewhere between the laps, there’s a pretty big life update: my wife and I are having a BABY BOY, due in December! 👶🏼 Looks like I’ll have another riding buddy to chase before too long.
