Mercury / Tohatsu 30HP manual tilt stand

In this video I rebuild the missing manual tilt and shallow water bracket on a Mercury / Tohatsu 30HP two-stroke outboard, using parts ordered by model number. I start with the parts diagram, which I printed out to match part numbers to the actual bits, then work through the whole assembly. That covers the reverse lock arms and rod, the handle, linkage and release lever, and the nylon bushing, spring and tensioner under the bracket. I also fit the stand, the spring pin that limits the lever's travel, and the main spring that hooks the lock. I explain how the lever moves the stand in and out of the grooves for shallow and deep running, and how the hook stops the motor flipping up in reverse. I also go through common faults: it won't lock down, it won't unlock, or the stand won't shift between positions.
