Full Ghazal: دگر گوں ہے جہاں تاروں کی گردش تیز ہے ساقی دل ہر ذرہ میں غوغائے رستاخیز ہے ساقی (The world is in upheaval, the motion of the stars is swift, O Saqi! In the heart of every atom lies the tumult of the Resurrection, O Saqi!) متاع دین و دانش لٹ گئی اللہ والوں کی یہ کس کافر ادا کا غمزۂ خوں ریز ہے ساقی (The godly have been plundered of their treasure of faith and intellect; Whose murderous, captivating glance has wrought this, O Saqi?) وہی دیرینہ بیماری وہی نامحکمی دل کی علاج اس کا وہی آب نشاط انگیز ہے ساقی (It is the same ancient ailment, the same weakness of the heart; Its cure remains that same soul-exhilarating wine, O Saqi!) حرم کے دل میں سوز آرزو پیدا نہیں ہوتا کہ پیدائی تری اب تک حجاب آمیز ہے ساقی (The burning fire of longing does not kindle within the sanctuary’s heart, Because your revelation is still wrapped in veils, O Saqi!) نہ اٹھا پھر کوئی رومیؔ عجم کے لالہ زاروں سے وہی آب و گل ایراں وہی تبریز ہے ساقی (No Rumi arose again from the tulip-gardens of the East, Though the clay of Iran and the city of Tabriz remain the same, O Saqi!) نہیں ہے ناامید اقبالؔ اپنی کشت ویراں سے ذرا نم ہو تو یہ مٹی بہت زرخیز ہے ساقی (Iqbal does not despair of his barren, neglected field; With just a touch of moisture, this soil is boundlessly fertile, O Saqi!) فقیر راہ کو بخشے گئے اسرار سلطانی بہا میری نوا کی دولت پرویز ہے ساقی (To a humble wayfarer were revealed the imperial secrets; The true worth of my melody is the royal treasure of Parvez, O Saqi!) --- this profound ghazal reflects a world in transformation. Iqbal speaks of spiritual decline, the weakness of the heart, the absence of burning desire, the legacy of Rumi and Tabriz, and—above all—the possibility of renewal. The famous image of the seemingly barren soil becoming fertile with only a little moisture expresses one of Iqbal’s most enduring messages: a nation, a people, or a human spirit may appear exhausted, yet the potential for rebirth remains alive within it. The ghazal also recalls Maulana Rumi, Persia and Tabriz, connecting spiritual revival with the inner fire that once transformed individuals and civilizations.
