Do you remember how you knew a rider was coming before you ever saw him? Two blocks of engine, and you could put a name to the sound.
What follows is the count: forty pieces of the rider's world in the 1970s that the road does not show anymore.
In this video:
✓ The tool kit that came with every bike
✓ The sissy bar every passenger wanted
✓ The chopper built in a home garage
✓ The gas station where a man checked your oil
✓ The rally when the whole town belonged to riders
✓ The two-stroke haze at the stoplight
✓ The diner counter on the long ride
✓ The minibike that started it all
Somewhere out past the last exit, the road is still there. It just does not ask the same questions anymore. Everything on that list was a small price a rider paid for the same reward, the feeling that the machine under him answered to him and to nobody else.
If a jacket in the closet still smells like thirty years of garages, and some of these forty things were done by your own hands, the comments are open for your version of it.
The road is still honest, mile after mile, to anybody willing to sit on a tank in the real weather and go.
