Weathering a Diesel Locomotive - Bachmann’s Class 40 - The Yorkshire Dales Model Railway This week I finished weathering my Bachmann Class 40 using the same three colours I use for my steam locomotives. I aimed for a relatively clean look this time. Firstly, I masked off the body and sprayed the roof with Tamiya grey. Next up, I gave the exhaust vents a spray with Tamiya matt black, as well as giving the body and front ends a very light pass with the same colour. Next I gave the underframe and wheels a spray of Tamiya brown, before toning this down a little with some more grey. After airbrushing, I used a mix of Humbrol brown and rust weathering powders on the underframe. I also used Isopropyl alcohol and a cotton bud to remove some paint from the buffer beam, and added some Matt black to the buffers to represent oil. As always, thanks for watching.
