Yellowstone Had No Idea Its Wolf Collars Would Expose What the Grizzlies Were Doing In the Lamar Valley, a wolf pack brings down an elk after a long chase — and then a grizzly walks out of the trees and takes the carcass. For years people assumed scenes like that were rare. But Yellowstone's wolves wear collars, biologists visit their kills, and the data showed the grizzlies were doing something far more important than anyone set out to measure. In this video: how wolves returned to Yellowstone, how collar data became one of the best records in wildlife science, how often bears take over wolf kills, what that means for how many elk wolves have to kill, and what it reveals about the whole ecosystem.
