(9/22/26) Tuesday Forecast - Confidence Increasing in Polo’s Track and Possible Impacts to So Cal

(9/22/26) Tuesday FULL tropical and local forecast - Confidence in Polo’s eventual track and impacts to #Baja and #Socal has increased slightly, plus heat returns to our forecast. Hurricane Polo is a monster Category 5 storm churning off the coast of Mexico this afternoon. Polo is stationary, absorbing the warm waters and favorable conditions. Further strengthening is expected over the next day or so, with winds near 185 mph. By tomorrow, Polo will begin heading west back over the Pacific before making a turn to the north by this weekend as a major Category 4 hurricane. There is good confidence that the eye will stay offshore of Baja Sur, but depending on what side of the cone the center tracks on, major impacts are still possible for spots like #Cabo. Confidence has increased that, at some point, Polo will make a somewhat sharp right-hand turn and possibly make landfall in either northern #BajaSur or southern #BajaCalifornia as a ridge of high pressure helps drive the storm northeast. The forecast is still subject to change dramatically. From that point, moisture could spread into the Southwest as early as Sunday or Monday, with #Arizona most likely to receive rainfall. #ImperialCounty could also see some heavy rain depending on the exact track.
