Why does siostra become z siostrą? In this beginner-friendly lesson, I explain when to use the Polish instrumental case (narzędnik) with everyday examples. You’ll learn how to use it: • After z meaning “with”: z siostrą, z bratem, ze mną • For professions and roles: Jestem nauczycielką / nauczycielem • For tools and transport: Piszę długopisem, Jadę autobusem • After position words such as pod and przed: pod stołem, przed szkołą We’ll also cover the common singular endings -ą and -em, plural forms such as -ami and -mi, and words like tata and kolega that end in -a but are grammatically masculine. I’ll show you why z siostrą (“with my sister”) and z pracy (“from work”) use different cases. Your turn: finish the sentence “Idę z…” in the comments!
