The contra-campana is the mambo bell, which is mounted on a set of timbales and played as a counterpoint to the campana (bongo player’s bell) in a chorus of an Afro-Cuban piece. In this video, I show how to play the pattern on the cowbell, the cymbal bell, and how to combine it with the campana on two different surfaces. For better results in your own playing, faster than you could ever do it alone, check out the free master class at www.expandmydrumming.com/masterclass.
