Ramayana Ayodhya Kanda Sargas 54–56 | Sage Bharadwaja & Rama’s Journey to Chitrakuta |

The journey of Shri Rama, Mata Sita, and Lakshmana continues deeper into the forest in Sargas 54–56 of the Valmiki Ramayana. After crossing the sacred rivers and leaving the world of Ayodhya behind, Rama and his companions arrive at the hermitage of Sage Bharadwaja, situated near the sacred confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna at Prayaga. Bharadwaja welcomes Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana with great affection and hospitality. The sage then guides Rama toward Chitrakuta, describing it as a sacred, beautiful mountain filled with forests, rivers, waterfalls, birds, deer, elephants, and abundant fruits and roots. He recommends Chitrakuta as an ideal place for Rama to spend his years of exile. Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana follow the sage's guidance and journey toward Chitrakuta. Upon reaching the beautiful mountain and the Malyavati River, Rama experiences a renewed sense of peace and joy, leaving behind some of the sorrow of his exile from Ayodhya. Surrounded by nature and the peaceful forest, Rama's heart becomes lighter and he begins to embrace his life in exile. This section marks an important transition in Ayodhya Kanda. Ayodhya is now far behind. The sorrow of separation begins to give way to the serenity of the forest. Rama receives the guidance of the sages.
