How to make people respect you when you're the nice guy everyone interrupts, jokes about, and hands the job nobody wants. Machiavelli wrote about this 500 years ago: disrespect isn't bad luck, it's a response to what you allow. People test your line and go exactly as far as you let them.
In this video we break down why the "convenient man" gets no respect, what Machiavelli really meant by "better to be feared than loved," and why the key is being feared but never hated. Here fear doesn't mean intimidation or dark psychology tricks. It just means people know that disrespecting you has a cost.
Then come 9 laws of respect taken straight from The Prince and brought into everyday life at work, with friends, in dating and with family:
1. Never be despised
2. Your decision is final: how to say no and make it stick
3. Deal with disrespect at the very beginning
4. Consequences, not threats
5. Be the fox and the lion
6. Be a true friend or a true enemy
7. Don't let everyone tell you everything: make your time scarce
8. Severity all at once, kindness little by little: how to set boundaries
9. Keep your distance and your dignity
You'll also hear the story of Cesare Borgia and Remirro de Orco in the piazza at Cesena in December 1502, and what it teaches about order, hatred and decisive action. We cover where the line is (no humiliation, no petty revenge), what to do starting tomorrow, and why people push harder at first before the testing finally stops.
