Guava growing UK, pruning and shaping before bringing inside for winter

This is my largest guava plant, the true tropical species psidium guajava. This I believe is the green skinned, white or yellow fleshed variety. When I originally got this plant the grower had cut the growing tips off at about 18 inches so the plant has grown wider rather than taller. I'd like to try and encourage some vertical growth up to about 4 or 5 feet so I'm trying to prune the branches back to some more upright facing buds. It's been growing vigorously this Summer so I'm hoping for a quick recovery in Spring ( assuming Winter survival ) and perhaps flowers next year 🤞. I might try and root a couple of the shoots pruned off.
