[https://www.theremoteclosersblueprint...](https://www.theremoteclosersblueprint...) Nick had just taken one of his first sales calls. He could get through the script, but when the prospect said something worth exploring, he wasn’t always sure what to ask next. He knew he was letting some answers slide. He just didn’t know how to interrupt or challenge them without making things awkward. So we pulled up the recording and worked through his discovery together. I showed him the moments I would’ve stopped, the follow-up questions I would’ve asked and how I would’ve handled the prospect’s answers. We get into: • Asking permission before going into personal topics. • Recognising when a prospect is brushing off something that matters to them. • Using discovery questions to explore the problem, how long it’s been happening and its personal impact. • Interrupting rambling without losing trust. • Challenging “that’s just how it is” without turning the sales call into an argument. • Knowing when to leave the script and follow what the prospect has actually said. We also talk about something plenty of new closers feel but don’t say: it can be harder to challenge someone when they’re older or more experienced than you. If you’ve ever heard an answer and thought, “There’s more here, but I don’t know how to get to it,” you’ll recognise yourself in this call.
