On 30th June, 1855, a mass assembled in the ground of Bhognadihi, Jharkhand under the leadership of Sidu Murmu and Kanhu Murmu. An oath was taken to rebel against British colonial rule and to get independence from oppressive and fraudulent moneylenders. They decided to initiate demonstration (mass rally) from Bhognadihi, Jharkhand to Calcutta (Kolkata), West Bengal for the purpose of deputation to Governor. Amid demonstration they were forcefully being restricted, thus the mass, revolt against the violence. Hence, Historical Santhal Hul was initiated.
