My Honest Reaction to the “Stop Forcing 3-Part Harmony” Video

This is a reaction and commentary video under fair use, responding to another creator’s content for educational discussion. A lot of singers sent me this video asking for my reaction — so here it is. The original video argues that we shouldn’t squeeze every singer into three-part harmony because of the many vocal subcategories that exist. I agree that music directors should be thoughtful about tessitura and vocal health. But I strongly disagree with the direction this conversation can take if we’re not careful. We risk creating singers who refuse parts based on labels instead of learning how to blend. And in worship music, simplicity still communicates better than complexity for most listeners.
