Engines of the Ratty Ep.6- Perkins

Welcome back to another video. In this episode of Engines of the Ratty, we look at Perkins, the oldest diesel in working order on the line. The frames date back to 1929 when they were built by Muir Hill for one of the "Tractors" to haul stone along the line between Beckfoot, Murthwaite and Ravenglass. When the stone traffic dried up, It was rebuilt into a steam-outline diesel, gaining the nickname Pretender. Pretender was also rebuilt, this time to recreate a more industrial looking locomotive, and officially named Perkins in 1985. Perkins is often found on the winter services or on the permanent way trains. I hope you enjoy this video.
