In this lecture, we discuss the Paired t-Test, which is used when two sets of observations are related or dependent on each other. The focus is on understanding how hypothesis testing is applied when observations arise from the same subjects, matched pairs, or before-and-after situations. Topics Covered: • Meaning and purpose of a Paired t-Test • When observations are considered dependent or paired • Formulation of Null and Alternative Hypotheses • Computing the differences between paired observations • Application of the t-Test to the mean difference • Interpretation of the test statistic • Understanding the decision rule • Drawing the appropriate statistical conclusion • Practical approach to solving examination-oriented questions This lecture is part of the Hypothesis Testing Series, where statistical concepts are explained in a simple, logical, and application-oriented manner. The objective is to clearly understand why a Paired t-Test is different from a test involving two independent samples, and how to identify the correct approach in a question.
