Nearer, My God, to Thee (Titanic Hymn) - Rock Version | Julie Aurora

Rock version of the Titanic hymn "Nearer, My God, to Thee", with modernized lyrics. On the night of 14 to 15 April 1912, the RMS Titanic's band, led by violinist Wallace Hartley, kept playing until the very end. None of the eight musicians survived. Why did the band keep playing? Survivor accounts describe the musicians playing on the open boat deck while the lifeboats were lowered, to keep passengers calm. Several survivors remembered "Nearer, My God, to Thee" as one of the last pieces; which tune was truly last is still debated. What happens in the video? Julie Aurora sings alone on a concert stage while the screen behind her shows the ship's band playing on. In between, a fictional story unfolds: a young passenger reaches a lifeboat, watches the Titanic sink and is rescued by the RMS Carpathia at dawn. The passenger is a fictional character, not a real person.
