Sometimes I look at younger photos of myself and wonder what she imagined her life would become. What did she hope for? What dreams did she hold before she knew how much life could change? “The Life That Could’ve Been” makes room for those questions for the paths I didn’t take, the possibilities I still think about, and the younger versions of me I’m learning to understand with tenderness. I can love parts of the life I have and still feel sadness for what I once hoped it would be. Both feelings belong in my story. Writing gives those feelings somewhere to go.
