What happened to being a nerd? Once upon a time, loving comics, video games, anime, fantasy and superheroes could earn you some serious ridicule. Now, nerd culture is everywhere. Superhero movies dominate the box office, gaming is bigger than ever, anime is mainstream and the things we were once embarrassed to love are suddenly considered cool. But has something changed along the way? In Episode 6 of My Dude, My Guy, Brett and Logan take a step back from the games and challenges and simply talk about something they've both grown up with: nerd culture. We look at where nerd culture came from, how it has changed, what mainstream acceptance has meant for the things we love, whether gatekeeping and fandom have changed, and whether being a "nerd" even means the same thing anymore. Has nerd culture finally won? Or did becoming mainstream mean losing some of what made it special? No games. No challenges. No carefully planned answers.
