Hark! Sit thee down and listen to the tale of Oliver, a brave and curious soul who ventured into the shimmering citadel known to the locals as Bloomingdale’s of Fashion Valley.
The Chronicles of Sir Oliver at the Great Manor
The Arrival at the Ivory Gates
Upon a sun-drenched afternoon in the kingdom of San Diego, Oliver approached the towering white walls of the manor. No drawbridge barred his path; instead, the great glass portals parted as if moved by unseen spirits, welcoming him into a realm of polished stone and air as cool as a mountain spring.
The Alchemist’s Hall
His first steps took him through the Hall of Fragrance. Here, glass vials sparkled like dragon’s hoard, filled with potions of jasmine, sandalwood, and citrus. Oliver crinkled his nose—not in distaste, but in wonder—as the court maidens offered him strips of parchment imbued with scents fit for a king.
The Gallery of Silken Raiment
Ascending the moving iron stairs (a marvel of dwarven engineering, to be sure), Oliver reached the upper cloisters.
The Doublets: He marveled at tunics of fine cashmere and vests of quilted velvet, soft enough to soothe a weary knight.
The Footwear: He passed rows of leather buskins and silver-buckled slippers, though none seemed quite sturdy enough for a muddy trek through the Shires.
The Mirrors: Everywhere he turned, enchanted silvered glass reflected his own image, making the hall seem to stretch into eternity.
The Great Indulgence
In the heart of this merchant’s paradise, Oliver discovered the fabled Forty Carrots. It was not a feast of roasted boar, but a frozen nectar of "Yogurt," swirled high like a wizard’s tower. With a wooden spoon as his blade, he conquered the icy treat, finding it a most refreshing reward for a day of scouting.
"Verily," Oliver whispered to the rafters, "if this be the valley of fashion, then let me be its most stylish wanderer."
With a heavy bag of brown paper—his "Big Brown Bag" of spoils—clutched in his hand, our hero departed the manor, his heart light and his spirit bold, ready for his next quest beneath the California sun.
