Jimmy Stewart and World War II

Hollywood icon Jimmy Stewart served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II, but his military service is often overshadowed by his celebrated film career. His wartime experiences are the focus of the new film Jimmy, which is scheduled for release on November 6, 2026. To discuss Stewart's military service and how it is portrayed in the film, we spoke with Dawn Brosnan of the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force and award-winning composer Grant Fonda, the film's composer and great-great-nephew of actor Henry Fonda, one of Stewart's closest friends.
