Live Wyre Music Podcast Episode 15 Cantaloop

Cantaloupe on Live Music, Glastonbury & Staying Relentless Cantaloupe have spent decades making live performance their first love. In this episode of the Live Wire Music Podcast, Justin and Danny look back on the band’s journey—from an unexpected jam-session meeting to touring across Europe, playing Glastonbury, and sharing stages with artists including Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Roy Ayers. They talk about bringing old songs back to the stage, evolving Cantaloop's sound with programmed beats and horns, and why live shows still matter. The conversation also explores the challenges facing grassroots music today: fewer audiences at local gigs, the realities of social media and streaming, and the hard work behind releasing new music. Along the way, Justin shares how punk led him to pick up a guitar and become a musician, while Danny traces his love of bass back to the sound systems he grew up listening to. They also remember original bassist Bruce and the distinctive musical identity he brought to the band. Whether you’re a musician, a fan of live music, or curious about life behind the scenes of the UK music industry, this is a candid conversation about creativity, changing times, and why the best advice may be simple: enjoy it, keep creating, and be relentless.
