In this video, I read and break down Galatians chapter 2, where Paul defends the freedom we have through Jesus Christ and explains why no one is made right with God through religious performance. We explore the meaning of Jews, Gentiles, circumcision, and justification, along with Peter’s decision to separate himself from Gentile believers because he feared criticism. Paul reminds us that “a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law” in Galatians 2:16, and he declares in Galatians 2:20, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” This chapter challenges us to examine whether our personal convictions are bringing us closer to Jesus or becoming standards we use to judge others, and whether fear of people causes our behavior to contradict what we claim to believe. Galatians 2 reminds us not to rebuild walls that Jesus tore down and not to treat God’s grace as meaningless, because “if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die” in Galatians 2:21.
