IN THIS PODCAST: Relinquishing the “golden handcuffs” The transformative power you can use behind fear  Fear is a feeling, not a moment  RELINQUISHING THE “GOLDEN HANDCUFFS” Before Kate started her role as a life coach and pivoted her career, she worked for a while in a “stable”, “secure” salaried job.  Everything looked good from the outside of this job, but she found little fulfillment, and it was in a meeting before Christmas break that Kate decided she had to make a change.  It was one of those little, tiny moments, and I was sitting there, and I still remember… This little voice came in [my mind] and said, “I don’t want to do this anymore,” and it was like once the truth had spoken … I remember sitting there, sweating, worried that someone could tell [that realization] on my face. Kate Swoboda In those moments, when your truth speaks to you, you can no longer ignore it, and it can push you to do things you never thought you would consider to bring the vision behind that truth to fruition.  Once Kate knew that this work was no longer meant for her, she leaped out of it. However, it was not always easy.  You’re going to doubt yourself; you’re going to go, “Who am I to think I can do this?” You’re going to bring whatever pattern you already have with you … If it’s a people-pleasing pattern, you’re going to be afraid of what other people think … I was terrified, but I did eventually slowly start making moves in the direction of replacing my salaried job with full-time running my coaching business. Kate Swoboda THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER YOU CAN USE BEHIND FEAR Kate explains that she’s glad she had this direct experience of fear: it taught her that a person needs a holistic sense of their tolerance, capacity, and ability to move through fear before they come out on the other side.  It’s probably going to feel worse and scarier and push you to your limit before it’s going to be this whimsical adventure you can talk about on a podcast all these years later! … It’s very different to experience [in the moment]. Kate Swoboda Fear is something you pass through. There aren’t many ways around it without going through it, and the transformative change that awaits you lies right in the middle.  You have to go through it in order to feel what happens on the other side. Jennifer Froemel FEAR IS A FEELING, NOT A MOMENT One of the main pieces of advice that Kate wants you to consider is that fear is just a feeling. It cannot create or make anything on its own, because you are the only one who can do that.  While fear can be present, and sometimes very persuasive, you are ultimately the one who makes the decisions and takes the action. Retain and remember that agency.  As Kate explains, there is no such thing as being “fearless,” but you can “fear, less.”  What I think people can do is fear, less. They can have less of it, and they can learn how to work with it so that it doesn’t control their next move; it isn’t dictating, and they aren’t getting stuck in self-doubt. Kate Swoboda You don’t have to have it altogether. It’s just about taking the next best step, over and over again to keep moving forward.  RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: BOOK | Kate Swoboda – The Courage Habit: How to Accept Your Fears, Release the Past, and Live Your Courageous Life BOOK | Kate Swoboda – Your Most Courageous Self: Tapping into Your Inner Bad-Assery Visit https://www.yourcourageouslife.com/ and connect on https://www.instagram.com/katecourageous, https://www.tiktok.com/@katecourageous, and    / @yourcourageouslife  . https://gofund.me/a571bde4?fbclid=IwZXh0bg... http://www.practiceofthepractice.com/network Rate, review, and subscribe to this podcast on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, TuneIn, Audible/Amazon, and Spotify.
