11 Dutch Decluttering Lessons EVERYONE Learns Too Late
The closet that swallows your winter coat every spring, the kitchen drawer that jams when you need a spoon, the boxes in the attic you have not opened in six years: you hire an organizer for three hundred euros, fill the shelves again by autumn, and the problem walks back in before Christmas. What if the answer was not more storage, but what your grandmother knew without thinking about it?
In this video I show you the eleven rules my father lived by in his Westland home to keep every room clear, every shelf useful, and every decision made once instead of ten times a year. The wall he painted white so he could see what was really there. The one day each month when he sorted the kitchen before it sorted itself. The number he kept written on a card in his wallet that stopped him buying things that did not belong. None of it requires a shop trip or a new system, and all of it costs nothing at all.
Here's the thing: a home that runs itself on four simple habits does not need the products, the labels, the subscription boxes and the weekend seminars the industry sells you. A woman with a clear closet does not buy a second one. A man who uses what he has does not need to be sold the dream of organizing it better. That is why nobody teaches you these lessons in a magazine.
I also walk you through the one room where my father let things pile up—and why he did it on purpose—and the single question he asked before every purchase that changed how our whole family shops.
