Tuscaloosa FBI Operation: 276 Traffic Stops, 90 Arrests, 2 Murder Suspects Caught

A monthlong joint enforcement operation between the Tuscaloosa Police Department and the FBI has resulted in 90 arrests, 276 traffic stops, and the recovery of 10 firearms across Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Running from July 14 through August 14, 2026, the operation targeted high-crime corridors and led to the arrests of murder suspects Anthony Jones and Dekendrick Turner, a suspect wanted for sexual abuse of a child under 12, and a robbery suspect. Investigators also identified a shooting suspect through FBI fingerprint technology, resulting in a deportation, and located a missing person from Baltimore, Maryland during the operation. Ten firearms were recovered, including one modified with a Glock switch and two reported stolen. Two cases involving defendants Ladarius Hinton and Jaylen Taylor have been adopted for federal prosecution by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Alabama.
