Do bear in mind that when you increase the width/height on a carving, you are making a cubic, 3-dimensional adjustment. There's more wood to come away than you might assume! Whatever size you make your fish, we start with a drawing. You can use mine (in the download) to whatever scale you like, but I would encourage you to change it and make the fish your own. You can back the finished carving with a different wood so a colour shows though the piercing instead of the wall. I can also imagine a left and right fish as cupboard doors. In this workshop I spend quite a bit of time looking at the act of drawing itself and how to get the fluid lines that make this design so pleasing.
