Why Your Imaan Fluctuates & And How to Stabilize It
.
Do you feel your Iman going up and down? One day you're motivated, the next day you're distant. This is the nature of Iman—it increases and decreases. But what if you could learn how to consistently make it go up?
In this powerful and practical lecture, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan explains the two most important things that increase your Iman: beneficial knowledge and the Quran.
He draws from the definitions of Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali and Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani to show what beneficial knowledge truly is—knowing the Quran, the Sunnah, and the statements of the Salaf, combined with action.
He also explains how the Quran is a light, a cure, and a mercy for the believers, and why reciting it without contemplation and action is not enough.
In this video, you will learn:
Iman Increases and Decreases: Ahlus Sunnah believes Iman goes up with obedience and down with disobedience.
1. The First Thing That Increases Iman – Beneficial Knowledge:
Ibn Rajab's definition: Precision in the Quran and Sunnah, knowing the hadith, and the statements and beliefs of the Sahabah, Tabi'in, and Tabi'u Tabi'in.
Ibn Hajar's definition: Knowledge that benefits you in your obligations—worship, dealings, and knowing Allah, His names, and His attributes.
If a lecture lacks Quran, Hadith, and the statements of the Salaf, it is not beneficial knowledge.
The people of knowledge are raised by Allah, made witnesses to Tawheed, and given a path to Jannah.
2. The Second Thing That Increases Iman – The Quran:
The Quran is a light, a soul, and a cure for the heart.
It guides to the best of affairs and is a mercy for the believers.
If the Quran was sent down on a mountain, it would crumble—how much more should it move your heart?
The Quran is not just for recitation. It requires Amal (action). The Salaf acted upon the Quran the way it deserved to be acted upon.
Ibn al-Qayyim warned against abandoning the Quran—both reciting it and pondering over it.
The Danger of Abandoning the Quran: Allah says: "And the Messenger has said, 'O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Quran as something abandoned.'"
This lecture will In Sha Allah transform how you seek knowledge and how you engage with the Quran.
Stop collecting information.
Start seeking beneficial knowledge.
Stop reciting without reflecting.
Start pondering and acting.
And watch your Iman rise.
